World of Warcraft System Requirements:
The Importance of Having the Recommended Requirements

world of warcraft reviewThese days, the gaming industry is highly competitive, particularly in regards to graphics. Game developers are always trying to outdo one another in the graphics department. While this is great for hardcore gamers who can afford top of the line computers, it’s kind of hard on casual players who don’t have the best systems in the world. Fortunately, World of Warcraft system requirements aren’t that heavy or demanding.

WoW runs pretty well on most desktops and even some laptops. Just as long as your computer is no more than three years old, you shouldn’t have problems running the game on your system. If you do, you can easily lower the settings for better performance. If you plan on playing the game often, though, you need to go by the recommended settings instead of the minimum in order to avoid lagging, freezing, and disconnections. This game is meant to be played and enjoyed; if you are spending a lot of time growling in frustration due to lagging and connection problems, you need to upgrade your PC to meet World of Warcraft system requirements.

The computer and gaming industries are linked together this day and age. Even console systems like Xbox 360 and PS3 can be connected to the internet. With each new development in the gaming industry, a new computer needs to be purchased in order to meet the new graphics demands. While WoW has less-demanding graphics than other online games, it can still be hard to run on computer more than three years old.

The system requirements for WoW require a decent amount of RAM , graphics video card, and a fast internet connection.

The minimum World of Warcraft system requirements for Windows are as follows:

- RAM : at least 512 MB

-Processor: at least 800 MHz

-Graphics card: at least 32 MB

-DirectX 9.0

-HD Space: at least 6 GB

-56k internet connection

-CD ROM: at least 4X

Unfortunately, one can’t get the best out of the game with such minimal system specs. With that said, here is the RECOMMENDED World of Warcraft system requirements:

-Processor: 1.5 GHz (Intel Pentium IV) OR 1500 MHz (AMD XP)

- RAM : 1024 MB

-Graphics: 64 MB 3D card

-broadband internet

Keep in mind that the minimal system specs only guarantee that the game will run; NOT that the game will be played as it should be. Gamers realize that they must have at least the recommended requirements in order to experience WoW fully.

Another issue to keep in mind is that some video cards don’t display textural effects as they should. Some graphics issues can include static texture problems, solid white or green textures, patches that are visible when they shouldn’t be, etc.

One of the most important World of Warcraft system requirements is that the video drivers be up to date. They should also work smoothly with the latest version of DirectX. Incompatible or older video drivers can cause a lot of problems in the game.

Also, WoW has a lot of patches that are released on a regular basis. They are automatically updated on a player’s system when they become available. And, if you want to play the expansions, such as Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King, you need to make sure everything on your system is compatible with those requirements as well. You really don’t have a choice: if you want to play the game in its entirety, you MUST have all the recommended World of Warcraft system requirements for both the basic game AND the expansions!
